Becoming A Member
The Palo Alto Amateur Radio Association consists of nearly 200 members, and is one of the oldest amateur radio clubs in California.
Membership is available to all persons interested in Amateur radio. There is no screening process or sponsorship required to become a member. We encourage prospective members to sign up for membership at our meetings. To become a member, see the Club Secretary at any monthly meeting. Renewals and new membership-related correspondence can be mailed to the Association mailbox: P.O. Box 911, Menlo Park, CA 94026.
Dues are payable in January each year.
Primary member dues are $20.00 per year which provides full membership privileges, including:
- Membership Roster
A printed membership roster, containing the names of all members, and the phone numbers and E-mail addresses of those that provide the information.
- PAARA Newsletter
Full members get one copy of PAARAgraphs, the club newsletter, mailed to them each month. (Family memberships do not receive additional newsletters.)
- Voting At Annual Elections
Family member dues are just $6.00 per year. (One Primary member of the family pays the full dues of $20.00, enabling the rest of the family to join as Family members).
Dues can be paid Online (Option #1) or by using our Dues Payment Form (Option #2).
Option 1: Pay Online new
To pay dues online, simply use the drop-down menu options below from either New Member or Annual Renewal. In your shopping cart -- before you check out -- there will be two buttons:
"Continue Shopping": takes you back to this page, so you can pay for an additional family member, order a name badge, etc. before checking out.
"Check Out": takes you to a page where you can pay your total either via a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express) or your own PayPal account. If you use your PayPal account to pay, our email address is: paarapay@gmail.com
Note: Please don't forget to include your name and callsign.
Option #2: Dues Payment Form
Dues can also be paid by filling out this DUES FORM. You can then bring the Form to the next PAARA meting. If you wish to mail it in, send this form with your check made out to "PAARA" to:

Badges
Members interested in obtaining a club badge with their name, callsign, and PAARA logo on it can purchase one for $10.00. Just add this item to your shopping cart. Your badge will be ordered and available for you to pick up at the next PAARA meeting from Doug Teter, KG6LWE.

Membership History
PAARA membership has fluctuated over the years, but might be larger now than it ever has been. According to the January 1, 1973 membership roster for the Palo Alto Amateur Radio Association (W6OTX) and Menlo Park Civil Defense Radio Club (K6YQT), which integrated themselves many years ago, the club had 70 members, including some who are still (or again) members: Dean Babcock, W6OEB; Andy Korsak, VE3FZK/W6; and John A. Cameron III (no callsign).
