The PAARA sponsored educational trust fund that has been established for Dave's son Danny has
already received over $1,100.00.. in donations from PAARA members. We would ask that you make your checks out to PAARA (ear marked for Danny's trust fund) and give them to the PAARA Secretary or Treasurer at your earliest convenience. Please contribute something so that when PAARA submits the funds in January 05 to the Sequoia School District who are managing the fund, we will have provided a wonderful long term gift
to allow us to remember Dave as our friend and active PAARA member.

The last time I talked to Bruce Sawyer, ZF2NT, he indicated that 18,000 vehicles simply disappeared from Grand Cayman during the hurricane. They apparently were washed out to sea and sunk. According to the CIA, there are only 46,000 people in the entire country, spread out over three islands. The islands took a major hit from the hurricane. Bruce said that the house on one side of his was constructed entirely of steel reinforced concrete. The waves from the storm surge reduced the house to a pile of sand. The house on the other side of Bruce’s house had the swimming pool completely filled with three foot diameter boulders (coral heads). I asked if building his house to California earthquake standards had saved his “home brew house”. He responded that a last minute design change seemed to have saved it. Originally it was designed to be built on a concrete pad at ground level. He finally constructed it on pilings putting it 8 feet above the ground. The storm surge flowed under the house and spared it. A big problem is that his entire property was covered by sea fans washed in from the sea. They look like plants, but are actually animals. Since the skeletons are silicon based they don’t burn so everything smells like decaying animals. He’s still assessing damage to his antennas, but apparently his towers are serviceable.
Good Luck Bruce! I really enjoyed your talk on building the house. Hope you don't have to do it again.

9/3 - haven't visited the site in a while. Very impressed. Especially the Vallio video. Did I understand correctly that Jim was killed by a tractor?
